HHCOS

HHCOS in Concert

HHCOS produces a choral concert and several carol concerts annually, as well as an opera when finances allow and the society is run entirely by volunteers. The Society uses professional soloists and orchestras , giving local people in the chorus the opportunity to work alongside professionals at the top of their game.

New members are welcome to come and sing and can join at any time. All abilities are catered for, there are at present 70 – 90 members ranging  from 16 to over 80 years of age.  As with all the groups at Haddo, there are no auditions to join.

The next good time to join us is in October 2017  but you can come along any time to see how we operate with no obligation.  Come and give it a try!

Haddo Voices Choirs

Haddo Children’s Voices

Rehearsing on Wednesday evenings in St Mary on the Rock Church, Ellon from 6.15 to 7pm.
This choir is for children aged P2 – P5. Music ranges from silly warm ups to jazzy to traditional to easy classical. A fun introduction to singing and with plenty of tips on developing young ears and voices and always with plenty of laughs along the way.

Haddo Girl’s and Boys Voices
Rehearsing on Wednesday evenings in St Mary on the Rock Church, Ellon from 7.15pm to 8.15pm.

A choir for all aged P6 – S6. Music is specially tailored to suit teenagers ranging from folk to jazz to musical numbers as well as more traditional classical. Rehearsals are informal and fun but with serious content for any aspiring singers. Voices are gently coached through the teen years.

Voices  choirs perform several concerts a year at the end of each term, to showcase their work. Concerts are held in Haddo House Hall. These are great opportunities to perform on a stage, encouraging confidence-building. Members are offered the opportunity to perform solos and duets at these concerts, although there is no pressure for those who do not wish to.

Membership for Voices is £20 per term (3 terms) or £50 per year. Siblings receive a discount of £15 per term or £40 per year. Members are also required to purchase Voices Hoodies for concert performances which will be charged at cost – currently £16.50 with a free T-shirt on joining (replacement t-shirts will also be charged at cost).

Voices are non-auditioned choirs believing that everyone can sing given the right nurturing environment. Just come along and give it a try. The only stipulation is you should be able to make most rehearsals.

Voices Carol Ensemble

This is a small group of singers from both choirs selected to perform at some extra carol concerts in December (rehearsals run from the October break only). Singers are picked for their ability and commitment to the choir (they must be full time members) and availability for all the concerts. You will be invited by letter and you should only accept the position if you can make all the rehearsals and concerts.

Worried about the weather?

Please ring the apologies number above after 5.00pm on rehearsal day, for recorded message about possible cancellation. If you choose not to come to a rehearsal due to the weather, please text or email an apology in before 4.30pm, so that we can call off if very few are going to show up!
