Haddo House Choral and Operatic Society is offering choral scholarships of up to £1000 to enthusiastic and talented young singers.

Who can apply?
Singers of 16 years and over, of all voice types are invited to apply. They should be proficient in
music reading and have vocal qualities suitable for ensemble singing.

Expectations of applicants
Choral scholars will be expected to attend rehearsals regularly and to sing in all concerts.

Rehearsals
The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.30pm in the Peatyards at Haddo House
during school term times.
(It cannot be accessed by public transport, but some help with transport may be available)

Scholarships are initially awarded for one year (April to March). The award will then be reviewed and may be extended.

Applicants will be expected to form a nucleus of proficient singers to enhance the choir of existing members.

They will support the choir in learning new works and may be asked to perform solo or ensemble work.
They should be proficient in reading music, have vocal qualities suitable for ensemble singing, and commit to regular attendance.

Auditions for suitable applicants will take place on the evening of Thursday 15th February 2024 in the Peatyards at Haddo House.

A commitment to regularly attend Thursday evening rehearsals is vital.
This involves approximately two hours per week. (excluding travel)
It is understood that educational term breaks and other personal commitments may make attendance on occasions difficult. Paid leave would be reasonable – but this should be discussed and agreed with the Director of Music.

Rehearsals take place in a custom-made rehearsal room in the Peatyards at Haddo House, Methlick, Ellon AB41 7EQ.
The rehearsal times are Thursday evenings from 7.30pm- 9.30pm during school term times.
It is not possible to access Haddo House by public transport, but applicants could be given some help with transport if they could get as far as Ellon, Oldmeldrum or Inverurie by bus.
