Many choirs across the country have noticed a declining number of male singers, with a variety of reasons cited for this trend. HHCOS has a long history of developing choral singing in the North East of Scotland, offering opportunities to young singers and enabling local amateur performers to sing alongside professional musicians.

To help strengthen our tenor and bass sections, HHCOS is launching a new initiative offering free singing lessons for members who sing tenor or bass. 🎶

Participants will receive up to one year of lessons with a professional singing teacher. Lessons can be arranged through our Musical Director, or members may choose to work with another professional vocal coach, subject to agreement.

To take part in the scheme, singers must:
• Be a paid-up member of HHCOS
• Attend rehearsals regularly
• Sing in HHCOS concerts and performances

Our choir is non-auditioned but still produces concerts of a very high standard, and this can be intimidating for people who are new to choral singing. This initiative is therefore designed to support and develop voices while building confidence, technique, and enjoyment of singing in a friendly and ambitious choral environment. 🎵

If you’re interested in joining as a tenor or bass and would like to benefit from this opportunity, we’d love to hear from you. For more information or to sign up to join HHCOS, please email membership@hhcos.org.uk.
